Informative Websites

Active Response Training – This is Greg Ellifritz’s blog. Greg is a veteran police officer and self defense instructor in Ohio. He shares his real-world experience and expertise on a wide range of topics, including guns, tactics, training, fighting, and survival. He may be one of the smartest people we know and he always has something interesting to say.

USA Carry – If you’re looking for information on concealed carry, this is one of the best sources available. Run by Luke McCoy in Louisiana, the website includes CCW maps, state-by-state concealed carry permit information, lots of articles, and a popular forum.

Buckeye Firearms Association – We have to get in a plug for our friends at BFA. Several of us are leaders with this highly successful gun rights organization. While it’s an Ohio-based rights group, the blog runs about 10 articles a week, including news and commentary on the Second Amendment, legal issues, training, and more. This is a resource many other groups around the country use to stay up-to-date.

Ammoland – This is one of the coolest and most informative sites anywhere. It’s basically the “Associated Press” for the gun world, publishing articles on just about every topic related to guns, shooting, and outdoor sports. If there’s just one blog you want to follow, this would be a good choice because it covers nearly everything.

The Daily Caller Guns & Gear – Founded by journalist Tucker Carlson (yes, the guy who used to wear a bow tie on TV appearances), The Daily Caller is a 24-hour news publication mostly on politics from a libertarian and conservative angle. What a lot of people don’t know is that Carlson likes guns so much, he and his staff take one day a month to go shooting. The Guns & Gear section of the website is just what it sounds like, a special blog on a wide array of political and legal topics related to firearms.

Of Arms & The Law – David Hardy is well-known in gun law legal circles. He’s an attorney, writer, documentary film-maker, and descendant of Nat Hickman, a gunslinging Arizona outlaw. On his blog, he reports on current events and reviews decisions in firearm-related legal cases.

Legal Insurrection – This is a catch-all blog on legal matters with a unique attitude and point of view. They cover gun law and cases with a particular passion. Andrew Branca, mentioned above, is a regular author.

The Arbalest Quarrel – Okay, you might not know what the name of the blog means or even how to pronounce it, but don’t let that stop you from reading it. Basically, the authors analyze firearm legislation from a firm pro-Second Amendment point of view. If you’re wanting more than the typical news coverage of current events, this is a great blog to visit. And for the record, an “arbalest” is a medieval crossbow. A “quarrel” is the ammo the crossbow used, but it also refers to argument and debate.
