Castle Doctrine

Some states have “Castle doctrine” laws, which allow individuals to use force, including deadly force, to defend themselves within their own home (or sometimes within their vehicle or place of business) without a duty to retreat. This doctrine is based on the idea that one’s home is their castle. As of this writing, 45 states have some form of Castle Doctrine.
