Here's what's happening and why it's GOOD NEWS

Second Call Defense has always been about protecting the right of gun owners to defend themselves. We believe we've fulfilled our mission over the last 5 years.

However, we've been working on several ideas to make membership even better. Specifically, to increase your protection and decrease your costs, and we've done just that.

How? By switching to a different insurance administrator while keeping the same underwriter, Lloyd's of London. This has allowed us to KEEP the insurance protection that's part of your membership and actually INCREASE that protection and LOWER costs for most of our members!

ALL your other benefits, such as immediate cash for bond and attorney retainer, Rapid Response Team assistance, and nationwide attorney network access, remain the same. Only the insurance portion of your membership is changing.

To maintain your Second Call Defense membership and add the upgraded insurance policy, we need you to confirm your updated membership as soon as possible. Click here to skip to the instructions below.

What's changing for each of our membership levels

Second Call Defense membership includes 4 layers of protection: Insurance Protection, Financial Support, Rapid Response, and Training & Education. Only the insurance portion of the membership is changing. Find your current membership level below for more details.

BASIC – NEW SPOUSE OPTION
Your membership fee remains the same at $9.95 per month or $119 per year. However, you now have the option to add your spouse for just $4 per month or $48 per year.

DEFENDER – LOWER MEMBERSHIP FEE
You will enjoy a lower membership fee of just $14.95 per month or $179 per year. Optional spouse coverage stays the same at $5 per month or $60 per year. You will have $500,000 for Civil Suit Defense, $50,000 for Civil Suit Damages, $50,000 for Accidental Shooting, and $50,000 for Criminal Defense.

ULTIMATE – LOWER MEMBERSHIP FEE + DOUBLE CRIMINAL DEFENSE
You will enjoy a lower membership fee of just $34.95 per month or $399 per year. Optional spouse coverage stays the same at $7 per month or $80 per year. You will have $1,000,000 for Civil Suit Defense, $250,000 for Civil Suit Damages, $250,000 for Accidental Shooting, and $100,000 for Criminal Defense. In other words, you'll have the old Ultimate Plus coverage for less than you've been paying for the new Ultimate level membership!

ULTIMATE PLUS – NEW MAXIMUM BENEFITS
Your membership fee will increase slightly to $54.95 per month or $599 per year. Optional spouse coverage stays the same at $9 per month or $100 per year. You will have $1,500,000 for Civil Suit Defense, $300,000 for Civil Suit Damages, $300,000 for Accidental Shooting, and $150,000 for Criminal Defense. If you don't want to pay more, you can move down to our new Ultimate Plan and have the same benefits you have now at significantly less cost.

What does that "Cancellation" Notice mean?

You may have received a letter from Lockton Affinity saying that your insurance policy will be canceled. Don't worry. This is a standard notice required by law. And actually, it means GOOD NEWS for you.

We're moving from one insurance administrator (Lockton Affinity) to another (Dual Commercial). The underwriter, Lloyds of London rated “A Excellent,” remains the same.

This move will reduce the administrative costs for the insurance policy included with your membership and allow us to INCREASE protection while DECREASING cost for most members!

However, by law, when you make a change like this, the insurance administrator is required to send you a letter saying the insurance policy will be canceled in the near future. That's really all there is to it.

IF YOU PAY MONTHLY FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP,  the insurance policy currently administered by Lockton Affinity will cancel automatically on Friday, November 24, 2017. But when you confirm your updated membership, the new insurance policy administered by Dual Commercial will begin.

IF YOU PAY ANNUALLY FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP, you do not need to take any action until we notify you by email about 60 days before your renewal date.

Questions & Answers

We understand you may have some questions. So here are answers to some of the most common questions members are asking us.

Why did I get a "cancellation" notice?
Don't worry. This is a standard notice required by law. You received it because we're moving to a new insurance administrator. Whenever this happens, the old administrator must send a notice to let you know the old insurance policy is being cancelled at some point in the future. You're still covered by your current policy until the actual cancellation date.

Who is the new administrator?
Dual Commercial will take over the administration of the insurance portion of your membership after you confirm the change. However, the underwriter, Lloyds of London rated "A Excellent," remains the same. And Second Call Defense remains the same too.

Why are you changing to a new insurance administrator?
This move will reduce the administrative costs for the insurance policy included with your membership and allow us to INCREASE protection while DECREASING cost for most members.

Are my benefits changing?
The insurance "limits" are either staying the same or going up, depending on your membership level. However, the other protections, such as immediate cash for bond and attorney retainer, Rapid Response Team assistance, and nationwide attorney network access, remain the same as always. ONLY the insurance portion of your membership will change.

Is my membership fee changing?
The Basic membership fee will stay the same. The fee for Defender and Ultimate will go down. Our upgraded Ultimate level will cost just a little more, but with new maximum insurance coverage. If you're an Ultimate Plus member and don't want to pay more, just switch to the new Ultimate level and you'll have all the same benefits you do now with a lower membership fee!

What ACTION do I need to take?
IF YOU PAY MONTHLY FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP, the old insurance policy you have will cancel on Friday, November 24, 2017. So to maintain your membership and add the new insurance policy, we need you to confirm your upgraded membership.

IF YOU PAY ANNUALLY FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP, you do not need to take any action until we notify you by email about 60 days before your renewal date.

How does the upgrade work?
How you upgrade depends on whether you pay monthly or annually. We've provided detailed instructions below. As long as you follow our directions, your old insurance policy will be cancelled and your new policy will begin.

Can I change my membership level?
Yes. When you confirm your upgraded membership, you'll have the option to change your membership to any level you prefer.

INSTRUCTIONS for Confirming Your Upgraded Membership

Please read these instructions carefully and completely. We will explain the action you must take to confirm your upgraded insurance policy and continue your Second Call Defense membership.

The action you must take depends on whether you pay monthly or annually. Please look at the correct section below.

If you pay MONTHLY ...

CLICK HERE to look up your membership information. This link will open a new tab in your browser.

1. Enter your membership number (which you can find on your member card) and your zip code. Then click the red Lookup button. You should see your name come up on the screen.

2. Click the Complete Purchase button beside your name to go to the next screen with your information filled in. Review and complete the form. Note that you will need to "sign" the terms and conditions and enter your credit card information at the bottom.

3. Click the Complete Purchase button to finish. That's it!

Your new insurance policy will then be added to your membership. Your membership number will remain the same and you will not receive a new membership card.

If you pay ANNUALLY ...

We recommend that you DO NOTHING until you get close to your next renewal date. About 60 days before your renewal date, we'll send you an email with instructions for updating to the new insurance policy. This is the easiest option. And if you follow the instructions in the email we send you, there will be no lapse in protection.

Again, if you pay annually, watch your email for instructions. You do not need to take any action until about 60 days before your next renewal date.
